The Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing financial transactions, maintaining accurate

financial records, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. This role involves

preparing comprehensive financial reports, managing payroll, supporting the annual audit process, and providing leadership to the finance team. The Finance Officer will work closely with various

departments to achieve organizational goals and ensure financial integrity.

 

• Compile and sort documents such as invoices and checks substantiating financial transactions.

• Maintain records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating,

and purging.

• Use computer applications (Excel) to record transactions in spreadsheets and/or databases.

• Operate office equipment such as photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.

• Act as custodian of petty cash and maintain the general ledger and the booking balance.

• Establish and maintain cash controls.

• Prepare daily and monthly reports, including ledgers, cash counts, accruals, and other required

reports.

• Prepare fund requests to the office supported by approved payment requests.

• Follow up on cash distribution and coordinate with Hawala members at various sites.

• Record transactions on the Costpoint system.

• Check all payment documents and record them in the tracker before making payments to

ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

• Follow up staff timesheets and LOE, and manage payroll preparation and salary payments.

• Make timely disbursements of cash for casual staff salary payments.

• Follow monthly accrual and closure processes from recording to payment.

• Voucher all finalized payments into the financial system.

• Archive finance documents in SharePoint or as hard copies.

• Work closely with the supervisor and supervise finance assistants, providing training, support,

and team management.

• Lead and motivate the finance team to achieve common goals.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial strategies.

• Analyze financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial goals with organizational

objectives.

• Implement financial policies and procedures.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree (4-year University) in Accounting, Business, or a relevant field.

 

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • 3 years of experience in the Finance field within an International NGO.

  • English and Arabic languages.

  • Microsoft Office software and computer literate.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and keep personal file.
