Accountabilities and Specifications: - Operating the HF and VHF radios, avoiding using any sensitive or security related information and following the THE ORGANIZATION security rules. Ensures radio frequencies' (HF and VHF) quality and transmission capacity. Installs and programs frequencies in all type of radios when necessary
- Ensuring that messages are well copied/passed to all people concerned and records the messages on the radio log book. Responding to radio contacts from other approved organizations and forwarding it on the information via this channel.
- Making radio contacts with reference bases (capital and/or field) according to communication rules / schedules and forwards all information concerning the security of the teams to the Project/Capital Coordinator.
- Monitoring and registering any movement, of people, vehicles, helicopters, airplanes and cargo, (departure, arrival, number of passengers, route taken, standard contact points) and informs line manager of any delays.
- Supervising and monitoring the VHF radio allocation book (handsets) and registering the loan of handsets to all staff, following it up on a regular basis.
- Installing, operating and performing preventive maintenance checks on assigned equipment, checking that the equipment is working properly and immediately informing the line manager of any damage/loss/theft. Maintaining the equipment, communications room and premises in clean and tidy conditions. Maintaining and supervising HF VHF batteries status in good maintenance conditions.
Providing basic radio training when necessary to THE ORGANIZATION staff - Language Proficiency: Must have a strong command of both English and Arabic, as the radio operator may occasionally be required to serve as a translator during movements.
- Residency Requirement: The candidate must reside in Raqqa and must be able to repprt to office in short notice. This is crucial for the project to ensure availability in case of emergencies or urgent movements and communication needs.
- Work Schedule Flexibility: Fridays are typically off; however, the radio operator must be prepared to work on Fridays when exceptional or critical movements occur. Flexibility in working hours is essential, as support may be required until movements are fully completed.
- Movement Planning Support: Assist the Logistics team with sharing driver and vehicle details on movemnet sheets, preparing weekly/daily movement plans, ensuring water & frefershment supply, verifying and distributing necessary documents, equipments, and briefing both drivers and staff on movement prodecures before the movement
- Movement Coordination: Receive and review movement plans, assign vehicles accordingly, and inform the line manager of any changes needed in the vehicle allocation or staff roster.
- Driver Communication: Maintain communication with drivers regarding the movement schedule and any changes in the roster.
- Movement Related Supply Monitoring: Track the stock levels of water and refreshments used during movements, and request replenishment in a timely manner.
- Equipment Operation and Security Monitoring: Operate all THE ORGANIZATION-standard communication equipment, maintaining communication equipment, perform regular security checks, monitor vehicle movements, and promptly report any issues or loss of contact.
- Equipment Readiness: Ensure all communication devices are fully charged and operational before use, conduct pre tests of equipment. Manage the handover and return of equipment, and notify Logistics if any parts, such as batteries, need replacement.
- Radio Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of all THE ORGANIZATION vehicle and staff movements in the radio logbook, and keep a summary of key radio communications.
- Movement Traceability: Provide movement records and data when required, based on radio logs and related documentation.
- Training: Provide briefing and basic training on how to operate communication equipments to newly recruited staff and refresher training to drivers and staff
