General objective of the position:

The Psychologist will provide specialized mental health services for men and boys in Northeast Syria, focusing on psychological assessments, therapy, and case management. The Psychologist will work closely with the psychosocial support team to address mental health needs, reduce stigma, and promote mental well-being. This position requires a strong background in mental health, case management, and the ability to integrate MEAL principles into the service delivery process.

  1. Psychological Services:
  • Conduct psychological assessments and provide individual and group counseling to men and boys affected by trauma and mental health issues.
  • Offer psychological first aid and non-specialized mental health support as needed.
  • Design and implement targeted interventions based on the findings of the needs assessment and ongoing feedback from the psychosocial support team.
  1. Case Management & Referrals:
  • Manage complex cases, providing ongoing support and coordination with other healthcare providers for specialized care as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation and follow-up for all cases to ensure continuity of care.
  • Work with the psychosocial team to make referrals to appropriate service providers based on case needs.
  1. Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data related to psychological interventions, outcomes, and participant feedback.
    • Support the MEAL team in monitoring the effectiveness of services, ensuring that the data collected is accurate and aligned with the project’s goals.
  2. Capacity Building & Training:
    • Provide training and support to psychosocial support workers, building their capacity to identify and address mental health issues in men and boys.
    • Ensure that all psychological services are culturally sensitive and adhere to ethical standards.

 

 

 

Mandatory Qualifications required

 

  • Degree in psychology, counseling, and Master is an asset , or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of experience providing mental health services, including psychological assessments and therapy, in conflict or emergency settings.

  • Strong understanding of mental health issues, trauma, and coping mechanisms in conflict-affected populations.

  • Ability to apply MEAL principles to psychological service delivery and reporting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Fluency in Arabic and/or Kurdish is required; proficiency in English is an asset

Languages

  • English Level: Desirable

CONTRACT CONDITIONS

The incentive will be defined regarding the NESMA’s Office salary scale on-going.
