Project Title:    

The Power is in Our Hands! Building Survivor-led Protection Systems for VAWG Prevention in North Syria.

Location: North Syria - 2 positions 

One position for Al Raqqa& Deir Ezzor, and one position for Aleppo & Idleb .

Duration: Six Month (part-time), extendable based on annual performance review and project needs.

Reports to: Finance Manager and  Project Manager.

Works closely with: Project Team, Procurement & Logistics Team, Field Staff, and Finance Team.

Project Background

Women and girls in North West and North East Syria continue to face high levels of domestic and intimate partner violence due to prolonged conflict, displacement, and weakened protection systems.

In response, Women Now for Development (WND) is implementing “The Power is in Our Hands!”, a multi-year initiative aimed at strengthening survivor-led protection systems and reducing violence against women and girls.

Strong financial management is essential to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

 Purpose of the Role:

The Field accountant (Part-Time) is responsible for managing project financial records, monitoring budgets and cash flows, and ensuring accurate documentation of all financial transactions.

The role includes preparing monthly financial reports in line with organizational and donor requirements, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Following the financial activities and managing daily financial operations of the project.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

  • Monitor budget execution and cash flow.

  • Prepare monthly financial reports according to donor and organizational requirements.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and transparency of financial data.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations.

  • Support internal and external audits and financial reviews.

  • Maintain proper audit trail for all financial transactions.

  • Coordinate with Procurement & Logistics to ensure proper financial documentation.

  • Verify financial aspects of procurement transactions.

  • Work closely with program and operations teams.

  • Use QuickBooks for accounting and financial recording.

  • Use Excel for budgeting, tracking, and reporting.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information.

  • Ensure integrity and transparency in all financial processes.

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in financial work (NGO experience preferred).

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks.

  • Good knowledge of donor compliance and reporting standards.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
