The Field Pharmacy Supervisor will support the pharmaceutical supply chain management across all supported health facilities by SAMS in Deir Ezzor. Under the direct supervision of the Health and Nutrition Manager, the role is responsible for ensuring proper forecasting, procurement support, storage, and rational consumption of medications and medical supplies. The Field Pharmacy Supervisor will also provide technical supervision, capacity building, and support to pharmacy staff, while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical standards and maintaining updated records of essential medical devices and related maintenance procedures

 

  • Support stock management within supported health facilities. Ensure drug consumption data is collected, aggregated, analyzed, and utilized for accurate forecasting and continuous monitoring of rational consumption of medications and medical supplies.
  • Under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Manager, take the lead in forecasting medication, consumables, and medical device needs for each project. This includes designing the essential list of pharmaceuticals, collecting inputs from relevant personnel, supporting the logistics team throughout the procurement process, and following up until final receipt of shipments.
  • Monitor the availability of essential medications, devices, and medical supplies at the facility level, aiming to prevent stock-outs and financial losses due to expired items. Collaborate with the Health and Nutrition Manager to define and update minimum stock levels for each facility.
  • Ensure Good Distribution Practices (GDP) for pharmaceutical products are applied at the storage level, and Good Dispensing Practices are respected at the facility level.
  • Develop and maintain an updated list of medical devices for each health facility, including functionality status, to ensure data is available and accessible when needed. Update these lists on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Establish and manage a database to document all maintenance procedures conducted on medical devices, to improve the management of medical assets and facilitate regular maintenance activities.
  • Conduct physical and on-the-job training sessions during field visits to provide technical support and supervision to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Ensure proper management and reporting of drugs and medical supplies.
  • Continuously assess the capacity and training needs of pharmacy staff, identify performance gaps, and adapt activities accordingly to respond to those needs.
  • Develop the basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to guide daily pharmaceutical operations and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on stock status, consumption trends, and pharmaceutical supply chain issues, and share them with the Health and Nutrition Manager and relevant departments to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders (including local health authorities, health cluster members, and partner NGOs) when required to coordinate supply planning, align with local guidelines, and exchange key pharmaceutical data.



 

Mandatory Qualifications required

 

  • University degree in Pharmacy.
  • Previous experience in humanitarian or public health projects.
  • Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • High learning capacity and motivation to develop professionally.
  • Ability to travel regularly to field locations and work in dynamic environments.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and ethical conduct in managing medical supplies.
  • Assets (Preferred but not required):Previous experience in relevant positions.

The salary will be defined regarding the SAMS’s Office salary scale on-going.
