The Daily Guard will be stationed at the North East Syria (NES) hub in Al Hassakah Governorate. The guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of ORG buildings, assets, and staff by preventing unauthorized access, theft, and other security threats, while adhering to NGO humanitarian principles, including remaining unarmed, refraining from violence, and not affiliating with any armed groups. The role involves detecting, deterring, observing, and reporting, as well as supporting the Security Officer with all matters related to the office’s security and safety.

 

  1. Physical Security and Monitoring:
  • Ensure all exterior doors are closed and locked after working hours.
  • Patrol the premises at least every hour to monitor and deter any suspicious activities.
  • Monitoring building entrances and exits.
  • Ensure that exterior lights are switched on during the night and turned off after sunrise.
  • Maintain a detailed log of all incidents to be shared with the security team.
  1. Emergency Response:
  • Inform staff of any emergencies and assist in evacuating them to designated assembly points.
  • Ensure access to the emergency alarm system at all times.
  • React promptly to incidents involving fire or other health and safety threats.
  1. Visitor Access Control:
  • Only allow entry to authorized personnel or pre-announced visitors.
  • Verify the identity of visitors using proper identification (Personal ID, Residence Card, Passport, employee ID, Driver’s license, or union IDs).
  • Maintain a visitor logbook, recording the date, time of entry and exit, visitor name, contact details, and the name of the staff member they are visiting.
  • Escort visitors to the meeting room or relevant staff member.
  • Prohibit weapons from being brought into the premises.
  1. Vehicle Parking Control:
  • Ensure only ORG Vehicles Park In front of the building.
  • Prevent vehicles from blocking access to any external doors.
  • Report any suspicious vehicles to security immediately.
  1. CCTV Monitoring:
  • Continuously monitor surveillance cameras, focusing on any suspicious activities.
  • Ensure that incidents are recorded and reported to security team
  • Report any malfunction or issues with the cameras immediately to security team
  1. Solar Energy System Management:
  • Regularly inspect the solar energy system and ensure that solar panels are clean and functional.
  • Monitor battery levels and report any issues or maintenance needs to the relevant staff.
  • Ensure the solar energy system operates efficiently and effectively.
  1. Generator Management:
  • Operate and shut down the generator as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the generator, ensuring it runs efficiently.
  • Change the oil regularly and maintain a log of oil changes.
  • Refuel the generator with diesel as needed.
  • Clean the generator and ensure it is kept in good condition at all times.
  • Report any issues or necessary repairs to the relevant staff.
  1. General Duties:
  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles as required.
  • Manage electricity switches when necessary.
  • Operate and maintain the water pump.

 

WORKING HOURS:

The guard will work a 12-hour shift at the ORG office. To ensure the guard remains alert and fully capable of performing duties effectively, no guard is permitted to work more than 12 consecutive hours. Adequate rest between shifts is mandatory to prevent fatigue and ensure optimal performance. The organization is committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of both staff and guards by adhering to these working hour limits and ensuring proper rotation schedules.

 

  • Proven working experience as a security guard or relevant experience.
  • Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.

  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.

  • Understanding of ORG's humanitarian mission and principles.

  • Experience in monitoring surveillance systems.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Trained in First Aid and fire control.

  • Experience within an emergency context.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to think critically and creatively.
