Job Profile:
The Midwife will work to ensure the improved quality of Maternal and Neonatal
Care, and well -being for
girls and women in the health facility a along to assists/ improve the RH Services at community level.
The Midwife is responsible for overseeing and implementing specific Maternal and
Neonatal Care she
reports to medical officer and particular:
Ante-Natal Care
Post Natal Care
Family planning
Counseling and provision of Family
Planning services
Client/patient-based counseling and service provision
Vaginal delivery and referral in case if risk signs.
IYCF activities
GBV and PSS
Accountability and Complexity
Monitor maternal condition during labor by checking vital signs, monitoring uterine contractions, or performing physical examinations.
Set up or monitor the administration of oxygen or medications.
Assess birthing environments to ensure cleanliness, safety, and the availability of appropriate supplies.
Assess the status of post-date pregnancies to determine treatments and interventions.
Collect specimens for use in laboratory tests.
Conduct ongoing prenatal health assessments, tracking changes in physical and emotional health.
Establish and follow emergency or contingency plans for mothers and newborns.
Estimate patients' due dates and reevaluate as necessary based on examination results.
Evaluate patients' laboratory and medical records, requesting assistance from other practitioners when necessary.
Identify, monitor, pregnancy-related problems such as hypertension, gestational diabetes, pre-term labor, and retarded fetal growth.
Monitor fetal growth and well-being through heartbeat detection, body measurement, and palpation.
Essential knowledge about GBV
concepts, how to deal with it, and how to make a referral if needed.
Obtain complete health and medical histories from patients including medical, surgical, reproductive, or mental health histories.
Perform post-partum health assessments of mothers and babies at regular intervals.
Educate mothers about breastfeeding and encourage them to breastfeed after delivery, also educate them about the importance of
exclusively breastfeeding their babies during the first 6 month of the new-born's life.
16. Provide, or refer patients to other providers for, education or counseling ontopics such as genetic testing, newborn care,
contraception, and breastfeeding.
17. Refer patients to specialists when needed.
Suture perineal lacerations.
Provide information about community health and social resources.
Apply hygiene standards in all medical activities
Assist in the supervision and training of junior medical staff.
Keep all patients' documents confidential, and never disclose any information related to the patient unless authorized by him/her.
Any other tasks assigned by the line manager
Essential criteria
Diploma in Midwifery, Maternal and Neonatal care experience with a reputable organization, including 2 years' experience
Clear understanding of gender inequality and gender issues for women and girls.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential.
Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when
necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Ability to work as a member of a team is essential.
Arabic language is essential
Desirable criteria
Preferably work experience in emergencies.
Experience with GBV cases is a plus
Experience in secondary care settings is a plus
Knowledge of Protection principles is a plus
Microsoft skills
English language will be an advantage
