The MEL Assistant is responsible for completing regular monitoring and evaluation activities in the field, including specified data collection activities using the Ona mobile data collection application. The MEL Assistant will support the MEL Officer and Senior MEL Officer by producing the first draft of summary statistics and narrative writing 
 

Supervisory level: N/A

  • Conduct first draft summary statical analyses (limited to counts and percentages) for assigned performance monitoring data. 
     
  • - Create the first draft of the analysis narrative to contextualize summary statistics for MEL Officer review. 
     
  • - Lead field monitors during data collection for monitoring assignments, including but not limited to: 
     
  • - Collect program monitoring data for Blumont interventions in Northeast Syria. Monitoring assignments will be assigned to each MEL Assistant  by the MEL Officer or Senior MEL Officer and can include: 
     
  • - Survey data collected from Blumont beneficiaries, camp residents, and community members. 
     
  • - Site observation data recorded through geo-tag and timestamp-embedded photographs. 
     
  • - Collect all supplemental survey data electronically using a smartphone, in the Kobo mobile application. 
     
  • - Collect qualitative data through detailed notes to support qualitative data collection led by the MEL Officer, Senior Officer, or Coordinator. 
     
  • - Review beneficiary and community feedback collected by field monitors and complete data quality checks before sending them to the MEL Officer. 
     



 

  • Institute degree in a related field. 
     
  • - 1 year of related experience collecting data through a smartphone application, Kobo mobile application preferred. 
     
  • - Good communication skills, survey administration, or interview-specific experience

  • - Strong verbal and written communication skills in Arabic, and English is beneficial but not required. 
     
  • - Experience working with INGOs, in the development / humanitarian sector.

  • - Ability to travel to all the program areas and any other areas in the north and northeast of Syria. 
     
  • - Proven ability to learn quickly.
