JOB PURPOSE 

 

The Translator has the responsibility to adhere to the PSEAH Policy (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment). The Translator  has the obligation to complete all mandatory trainings related to the Code of Conduct and the PSEA policy and report any safeguarding concern such as breaches of organisational policies or codes of conduct according to Acted’s procedures. The Translator carries out work duties in a way that does not harm children, vulnerable adults or other staff or volunteers.  

 

Under the Liaison Assistant's supervision, the translator will be responsible of direct translation from Arabic to English all the conversations needed such as Meetings, calls, and direct conversations. also with cooperation with the Liaison Assistant translating all the formal MoUs, permissions, and the authorities’ notifications and supporting with collecting the needed signatures   

 Objectives

  • Responsible for translating all the needed communication, letters, MoUs, and direct conversations
    and Support the liaison Assistant in finalizing all the needed permissions to implement ACTED activities

Duties and Responsibilities

Translation:

1.1 Producing 100% accurate translation for text from Arabic to English and versa

 

1.2 Facilitating the communication between the ACTED international staff and stakeholders by translating accurately from English to Arabic and versa during the daily briefing, meetings, workshops, and field visits

 

1.3 Upholding confidentiality and completing the translation perfectly and promptly 

 

Laision:

2.1 Supporting the Laision Assistant with translating all the MoUs and permissions from English to Arabic and versa

 

2.2 Supporting the Laision Assistant and the camp coordinator with translating the letters and notifications from the local authorities from Arabic to English

 

2.3 Support the Laision Assistant in providing an updated external stakeholder mapping and updating it with changes of local administrator when needed

 

2.4 With Laision Assistant directions make sure all the MoUs, permissions, and letters needed for ACTED implementation will be ready and fully signed on time

 

Others

Any task requested by the line manager related to the Laision department, like conducting meetings, visiting the local authorities and contacting with our partners

% of discussions translated accurately

% of Signed MoUs, permissions on time

 

 

Qualifications

Desired:

  • At least one year of experience in the translating field
  • At least 6 months of experience with NGOs local or international
  • Institute degree or Higher
  •  Proficiency in English and Arabic language (Speaking, Reading, and Writing);
  • Good skills with using MS Office ( Excel – Word - Outlook ) .
  •  

Preferred:

 

  • At least 1 year of professional translation experience, particularly in the relevant field (e.g., humanitarian).
  • At least 6 months of security/liaison experience with INGO.
  • An Institute degree or higher in English Language ,Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Certification in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
  • Ability to travel and work across all NES areas.
