The Mobile Clinic Midwife will work under the guidance and supervision of the Medical Doctor (MD) to implement quality gynecological obstetric services for women in Roj Camp clinic. In the absence of the obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN), the Midwife plays a crucial role as the first line caregiver for women in need of OB/GYN needs. The Clinic Midwife must be a mature, experienced professional, capable of critical thinking, problem solving, experienced in providing all routine antenatal care, maternal health education, management of obstetric complications, and counseling women. This position requires thorough understanding of maternal and female healthcare in challenging circumstances.  
The Mobile Clinic Midwife is a prominent position on the medical team, and requires an individual with a kind, approachable demeanor who is organized, professional, and experienced in providing maternal healthcare, education, and counselling to beneficiaries. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to excel in this role. 

Hours:
40+ hours/wk (field time expected)
 

General- 
•    Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

•    Work closely with all members of the medical team to provide the highest possible quality medical care for beneficiaries.

Technical-
▪    Familiarize with the patient demographics and contexts in refugee camps and special health needs among refugee populations especially children and women.
▪    Familiarize with global, national, and the organization's clinical protocols pertaining to providing care for women in camp settings.
▪    Conduct patient registration, patient flow control, triage as required.
▪    Assist the medical doctor to conduct female patient examinations and diagnostic procedures when required. Or conduct examinations independently within the scope of practice.
▪    Manage patient care in the emergency room and assist the doctor and paramedics with organizing external referrals.
▪    Coordinate with the pharmacist to maintain adequate medical stocks in the clinic. 
▪    Be responsible for proper documentation of health records, patient files, reports, stock management records, referrals, etc.
▪    Have adequate skills in basic emergency procedure including inserting and maintaining IV lines, vital signs, patient monitoring, and management of common gynecological and obstetric emergencies.
▪    Knowing, promoting, implementing and following the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment.
▪    Respecting patient confidentiality at all times
▪    Collaborating closely with the team in order to provide continuous quality of care and ensuring that patient interest and autonomy are respected at all times. 
▪    Providing support in ensuring proper and timely collection and registration of data for outpatient consultations and participating in monthly reporting according to management guidelines.
▪    Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified within the content of the job description.
▪    Inform and educate pregnant women and patients about their health conditions, the conditions of their pregnancies/gynecological issues and outcomes in a clear, concise, and empathetic manner. 
▪    Counsel pregnant mothers about care during pregnancy and preparation for birth.
▪    Maintain all patients records in accordance with the organization protocols and as guided by the medical coordinator.
▪    Communicates clearly and gracefully with all beneficiaries regarding preventative and therapeutic treatments, use of medications, practices and behaviors. 
▪    Attend to critical concerns of beneficiaries. Provide psychological assistance for beneficiaries who need critical support.
▪    Stay in close communication with all clinic team colleagues regarding improvement of work flow and outcomes.
▪    Any other tasks assigned by the Medical Coordinator.

Staff Management –
•    Not a supervisory role. 

Security -
•    Adhere to the organization security management plan
•    Report any security incidents or concerns to Medical Program manager (PM) or security personnel immediately

Communication and Coordination -
▪    Interpret as necessary between Arabic/Local language

Education / Experience Needed

▪    Midwifery degree/diploma from an accredited university/training institute in Syria. 
▪    Licensure or permit to practice clinical care in Syria.
▪    Additional training in OB/GYN and community health is preferred.
▪    Working experience of two year in hospital or outpatient clinical programs, preferably in maternity.

Language
