The Paramedic is responsible for all emergency patient care and referrals related activities in the Al-Roj camp clinic for refugee population by providing treatments to patients, respecting at all times, the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity, and patient confidentiality. The Paramedic is a prominent position on the medical team, and requires an individual with a kind, approachable demeanor who is organized, professional, and experienced in providing both general and emergency medical care to beneficiaries. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to excel in this role.
Hours:
40+ hours/wk (field time expected)
Familiarize with the patient demographics and contexts in refugee camps and special health needs among refugee populations especially children and women.
• Familiarize with global, national, and the organization's clinical protocols pertaining to providing care for people in camp settings.
• Conduct triage and identify patients who need emergency care and referrals. Coordinate with clinic teams, Kurdish Red crescent (KRC), and Roj camp management to initiate timely emergency referrals for patients.
• Assist the clinic team to organize non-emergency secondary care for patients for specialist’s care. Escort patients to other health facilities when necessary.
• Assist the Medical Doctor to conduct patient examinations and diagnostic procedures in both emergency and non-emergency settings.
• Manage patient care in the emergency room and assist the doctor and nurses.
• Coordinate with the pharmacist to maintain adequate medical stocks in the clinic.
• Be responsible for proper documentation of health records, patient files, reports, stock management records, referrals, etc.
• Have adequate skills in basic emergency procedure including inserting and maintaining IV lines, vital signs, patient monitoring, patient stabilization, wound care, first aid, and pre-hospital trauma management.
• Knowing, promoting, implementing and following the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment.

• Collaborating closely with the team in order to provide continuous quality of care and ensuring that patient interest and autonomy are respected at all times.
• Providing support in ensuring proper and timely collection and registration of data for emergency care and referrals and participating in monthly reporting according to management guidelines.

Education / Experience Needed
• RN or BSN from a certified, licensed college or university is required.
• 3 years related working experience in hospital or clinic setting. Emergency care is preferred.
• Experience in low-resource setting
