People in Need (PIN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1992 in the Czech Republic. For over 30 years, PIN has delivered relief and development assistance in more than 40 countries worldwide. Since 2012, PIN has been operational in Syria, providing humanitarian and early recovery support to conflict-affected communities in NWS and NES. Under the Whole of Syria (WoS) structure, PIN implements integrated programs across Syria through coordinated field offices. PIN’s programs focus on Emergency Food Assistance, WASH, Education, Civic Participation and Empowerment, and Early Recovery and Livelihoods 
 


 


 

General Position Summary: 
 

 
 

This position is for ERMD Assistant to work full-time in the PIN office in North East Syria. The role will involve the implementation of a new ERMD Programme, including Training and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, apprenticeships, small business grants (SBGs), placement and any other potential ERMD activities This job will be in the field as necessary and filling out reporting templates. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer.  

The ERMD PA 
 

  • · Supports the ERMD PO to track day-to-day activities of the LH Programme. 
     
  • · Feeds into the information sharing mechanism in the field and provides data and field updates to the ERMD Programme officer (daily activity reports). 
     
  • · Respects the security guidelines as set in the programme security plan. 
     
  • · Supervises the process of collecting and updating data from local councils periodically. 
     
  • · Follows up on adherence to basic protection standards during activities 
     
  • · Conducts other activities as requested by line manager. 
     


 

Responsibilities: 
 

  • · Supports ERMD PO in conducting need assessments as required identifying needs in the operational areas. 
     
  • · Supports ERMD PO in ensuring that all partners, beneficiaries and local councils understand the terms of the contracts/MOUs.

  • · Makes sure that the activities are going according to plan with regard to time and beneficiaries’ satisfaction following PIN rules and policies. 
     
  • · Conducts regular project monitoring to ensure the quality of activities & identify any challenges or delays. 
     
  • · Ensures accountability to project beneficiaries and local stakeholders. 
     
  • · Assists in ensuring all beneficiaries receive their kits, stipends and allowances as appropriate 
     
  • · Ensures proper filing and archiving of project documents (attendance sheets, payment sheets, POAs) and sign them. 
     
  • · Provides business training for TVET students at PIN TVET Centre 
     
  • · Provide individual and group business coaching sessions to selected beneficiaries eligible to receive small business grants. 
     
  • · Support the grant recipients in developing business, marketing, and financial plans 
     
  • · Provide technical advice and capacity development to the grant recipients to plan and implement their business 
     
  • · Support grant recipients in problem-solving, goal setting and achievement, increasing self-esteem, motivation and confidence 
     
  • · Assist grants recipients with their business growth, goals and plan development 
     
  • · Ensure grants recipients are following and spending according to the agreed business plan. 
     
  • · Monitor business growth and establish methods for improvement through continuous field visits and coaching sessions. 
     
  • · Providing resources and information on how to start or grow businesses, how to access procurement opportunities and get registration from relevant authorities where relevant  
     
  • · Support the ERMD PO in all aspects of the project implementation (registration, evaluation, interviews, field visits .... etc.) 
     
  • · Daily visits to the grant recipients 
     
  • · Make sure that the activities are going according to the plan with regard to timing and budget following PIN rules and policies 
     
  • · Informs ERMD PO of any opportunities, challenges or changes to the programming environment in the field. 
     
  • · Ensures effective and timely communication with all stakeholders of the project as requested by ERMD  PO. 
     
  • · Assists in collecting and reporting any new security information, incident or any change of the context to the line manager 
     
  • · Built a good relationship with the local business owners and collect their data in terms of enhancing access to the local market. 
     
  • · Follow up with the graduates from the ERMD programs and link them with the potential opportunities in the local market  
     



 

  • Bachelor degree in economic, finance, business or equivalent. 
     
  • · At least two years of relevant working experience. 
     
  • · Proactive and able to cope with a challenging and constantly-evolving humanitarian work environment, often under pressure 
     
  • · Excellent organization and coordination skills with capacity to prioritize, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines 
     
  • · Experience in working for international or local non-governmental organizations (essential) 
     
  • · Fluency in English and Arabic - both written and verbal (desired) 
     
  • · Microsoft skills – Word and Excel (intermediate)
