The aim of the RO Technician is to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the RO station and related facilities within the RO station. The technician is responsible for supporting the Site Engineer/ field team in maintaining equipment and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and contributing to the effective operation and maintenance of water treatment processes and site facilities.

 

Supervisory level: N/A

 

  • Responsible for operating and monitoring the RO station to ensure continuous and efficient production of safe drinking water in line with WHO standards.
  • Conduct routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs of the RO system components (pumps, membranes, filters, flow meters, valves, dosing systems, electrical panels, and control units).
  • Monitor key operating parameters (pressure, flow, conductivity, TDS, chlorine residual, pH, etc.) and promptly report any abnormalities or deviations from specifications.
  • Carry out backwashing, flushing, and chemical cleaning procedures of filters and membranes as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and site engineer’s instructions.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and records for daily operation, water quality testing, fuel/energy consumption, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper handling and safe storage of chemicals (antiscalants, chlorine, cleaning agents) and follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain the safety and proper use of RO tools, spare parts, and consumables, ensuring availability when needed.
  • Support in training or guiding other staff members on RO operation and safety practices.
  • Report immediately to the Site Engineer/Project Lead in case of system failure, water quality issues, or any incident that may affect operation.
  • Operating power source/generator for the RO and experienced in on ground maintenance for the generator such as changing oil filter, fuel filter …. Other minor maintenance for electrical aspects. 

     

Additional job responsibilities

  • Assist the team in handling, monitoring and replacing fire extinguishers at the RO station, and inform the responsible supervisors or block leaders as needed.

  • Immediately report any technical malfunctions, safety issues, or complaints related to the RO system or associated equipment to ensure timely maintenance and emergency response.

  • Maintain daily records of RO station activities, including water production, TDS readings, maintenance tasks performed, and spare parts/tools issued or returned to the warehouse, and share updates with them.

  • Provide timely updates to line supervisors regarding any issues, challenges, or operational concerns affecting the RO station or work process.

 

  • High school certificate, institute, bachelor’s degree and/or experienced with RO station 

     

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • Minimum one year of work experience in this field Preferably in camps

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used during maintenance activities  
  • Have high standards of ethics and integrity.

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
