Psychological Support: Provide psychological and counseling support to patients in accordance with humanitarian principles and protocols to enhance mental health. Assist in implementing all mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities where needed, targeting specific populations in collaboration with other mental health and medical team members, such as case managers, psychologists, CHWs, psychiatrists, doctors, and nurses.
Specialized Counseling: Offer individual and/or group counseling sessions at primary healthcare centers or, for high-risk cases unable to access primary care (e.g., survivors of torture, people with disabilities, the elderly), conduct home visits.
Mental Health Care:
Assess the mental health needs of patients and develop a treatment plan.
Identify psychological disorders and, if necessary, refer patients to the medical team/psychiatrist for medication.
inform patients and their families about the potential consequences of the condition and the medication treatment needed to improve the patient’s condition.
Ensure referrals to other health professionals or NGOs for the most suitable treatment.
Participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities in close collaboration with the MHPSS Coordinator.
Training:
• Assist in training and capacity building to expand the scope of MHPSS activities.
• Support the MHPSS Coordinator in planning, developing, and designing training materials.
• Assist in preparing materials related to MHPSS services.
Data Reporting and Monitoring:
• Maintain and update MHPSS statistical tools and data monitoring for mental health activities.
• Assist in preparing monthly analyses of MHPSS data related to clinical functions.
Confidentiality:
• Ensure that all patient information, files, and data remain confidential.
Other responsibilities
• Any other duties as requested by line manager, relevant to the scope of the work.
