As the Medical Officer at the Field Hospital in Al Hol Camp, you serve as the direct line manager of the medical team and are responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medical services provided. In addition to clinical oversight, you hold overall responsibility for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures within the hospital, playing a key role in safeguarding both patients and staff in this high-risk environment.
Supervise and support all medical staff, including general practitioners, nurses, midwives, and technical staff.
Coordinate daily clinical activities, ensure adequate shift coverage, and promote interdisciplinary teamwork.
Ensure high standards of medical care across all hospital departments.
Provide clinical decision-making support in complex cases and ensure adherence to treatment protocols and guidelines.
Lead the implementation and monitoring of IPC protocols in line with international and organizational standards.
Supervise the WASH/IPC team and ensure compliance with hygiene, disinfection, PPE usage, waste management, and spatial layout standards.
Coordinate with the Hospital Coordinator to ensure the facility meets IPC infrastructure and organizational requirements.
Identify training needs and provide ongoing technical guidance and capacity building for the medical team.
Organize and facilitate regular clinical trainings, briefings, and IPC refreshers.
Monitor the quality of care provided and ensure consistent use of patient documentation, registers, and reporting tools.
Conduct audits, case reviews, and clinical supervision to improve service delivery.
Act as the focal point for internal medical coordination within the hospital.
Liaise with the Hospital Coordinator, Medical Supervisor, and other departments to ensure alignment of clinical operations with overall hospital objectives.
Oversee the medical emergency response system within the hospital.
Ensure that emergency protocols are known and practiced by all relevant staff.
Uphold patient confidentiality, dignity, and rights in all medical activities.
Promote a culture of ethical medical practice and patient-cantered care.
Ensure accurate, timely, and complete medical reporting (e.g., morbidity, mortality, admissions, discharges).
Contribute to weekly and monthly reports for internal use and external partners.
Be aware of and contribute to maintaining security protocols within the hospital environment.
Advise on medical risk implications during evolving security situations.
Ensure that all medical and IPC practices adhere to policies, national regulations, and humanitarian standards.
Take corrective action in case of breaches in protocol or substandard clinical practice.
