The MHPSS Officer will be part of the Protection case management team, and the MHPSS officer is
responsible for the timely, high-quality, and effective mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS)
needs of the cases. The main purpose of this position is to ensure the quality of planning,
implementation, and follow-up of all technical aspects related to MHPSS activities. This includes
monitoring the effectiveness of support services, identifying gaps in mental health and psychosocial
assistance, and contributing to quality improvement efforts to enhance the overall well-being of affected
populations.

  Generic responsibilities
 

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
     
  • Implement delegated protection project portfolio according to plan of action.
     
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
     
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
     
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
     
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

    Specific responsibilities

     
  • Provide psychological support and services for the cases indicted through the case management
     
  • Provide specialized support for severe psychological issues including mood disorders (such as depression), stress disorders (such as PTSD and phobia),
  • Hyperactivity disorder, attention deficit, autism and such
     
  • Assess and analyze psychological needs and gaps, and develop adequate plans to address such gaps
     
  • Conduct referrals for psychological therapy services and available psychological support services
     
  • Report regularly on updates and progress in accordance with the agreement made with supervisor
     
  • Complete and audit case-related documents to assure quality services in accordance with MHPSS protocols and relevant international guidelines.
     
  • Support and conduct targeted research to programme evidence-based MHPSS interventions, including training and supervising staff and evaluating the pilot of interventions.
     
  • Develop and implement psychological health incorporation strategies through education and safeguarding
     
  • Uphold a continuous integration of MHPSS on society level including health facilities and available social services and such
     
  • Develop and review MHPSS training materials, M&E tools and beneficiary documentary templates as requested and in cooperation with technical supervisor
     
  • Represent the project in local meetings regarding mental health and MHPSS guiding principles, and uphold coordination with other relevant agencies

 


      Generic professional competencies:
 

  • Experience working as a Project/Protection Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
     
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
     
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
     
  • Good knowledge of English (in addition to Arabic), both written and verbal

    Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
     
  • University degree in social work, and psychology.
     
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Provision of MHPSS counselling.
     
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of client at all times
  • Strong ability to organise work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, work independently and with limited direct supervision and prioritise work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of client at all times
  • Advanced in written and spoken English and fluency in Arabic.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
