POSITION SUMMARY: : The Social Cohesion Officer will oversee all social cohesion components of a program focusing on reducing tensions and improving well-being through Community Rehabilitation Planning. The Officer will work on project implementation, managing a field-based team to ensure adherence to quality standards, and project timelines. They will lead the preparation and implementation of strategic technical inputs and program design as the relate to: social cohesion, psychosocial support, community engagement, and ensure compliance with humanitarian and protection standards.
This is a local role; no expat benefits will be provided.

Technical Leadership and Documentation:
Responsible for the area-based achievement of outcomes under Social Cohesion activities.
Will manage a team of social cohesion assistants, social workers and community mobilizers to implement the Community Rehabilitation Planning process.
Will lead direct implementation in their assigned governorate and work closely under the direction of the Protection Program Coordinator to ensure social cohesion objectives are achieved within the targeted communities.
Provide technical leadership on the design and implementation of social cohesion, community engagement, and psychosocial support activities. Including, but not limited to: community dialogue sessions, conflict mitigation skills training, peacebuilding initiatives, recreational activities and peer sessions.
· Facilitate social cohesion sessions and community led initiatives that promote trust-building, emotional regulation, and reintegration among camp residents in the camp and in areas of returns.
· Develop partnerships with community based partners, local mentors, and vocational centers in and outside of the camp to expand the range of positive engagement opportunities.
· Implement interventions in collaboration with the Youth Engagement Specialist, Case Management Specialist and Protection Program Manager.
In partnership with a local organizations and/or communities, support conflict monitoring assessments to identify the driving factors of conflict and potential entry points for interventions in conflict prevention, community engagement, and social cohesion.
Stakeholder Coordination and Communication:
Engage with key stakeholders—including community leaders, parents, teachers, and trusted caregivers—to gather insights into community interests, needs, and concerns.
Coordinate with relevant clusters and working groups.
Project Oversight and Management:
Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and address challenges.
Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Team Management:
Train and mentor team members and implementing partners.
Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving.
Manage and resolve conflicts among team members and stakeholders.
Travel Requirements:
· Deir ez-Zor based, with frequent travel to implementation sites.
Education: Degree in Social Work, Peace and Conflict Studies, Psychology, Humanitarian Action, or any relevant field
· Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with vulnerable, conflict-affected, or high-risk populations in Syria
· Demonstrated experience in community engagement and social cohesion
· Experience implementing reintegration or rehabilitation programs for at-risk youth
· Familiarity with international humanitarian principles or development standards (e.g., INEE, MHPSS-IASC Guidelines).
· Capability to establish good and respectful relationships with other actors, stakeholders
Able to train and manage a team (to listen, advise, support, solve conflicts, motivate, etc.);
Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting.
Patience, good personal organization, good communication and ability to work in teams, seriously, rigorously and personal accountability.
Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
· Fluency in written and spoken Arabic; working proficiency in written and spoken English is an asset.
